The Woodstock Folk Festival is based in Woodstock, Illinois, and its purpose is to bring quality folk music—local and national—to the McHenry County area. It began as a one-time event in 1986 and quickly became an annual event featuring folk artists—musicians, storytellers, and folk dancing—held on the third Sunday in July on the historic square in Woodstock.

In 1991 the Festival was incorporated (The Woodstock Folk Festival, Inc.) as an Illinois 501(c)(3) Non-profit Organization with a Board of Directors of local residents. It is funded by individuals and organizations who generously provide money and time all year long. All donations are tax-deductible and are always welcome.

Friends of the Festival (donations of $100-$499) – Friends receive mention in the Festival program.

Sponsors (donations of $500 or more) – Sponsors (individuals, companies, or organizations) are listed in the Festival program, press releases, and on the Festival website. If desired, they may have a small banner on each page of our site that links back to their own site. They also receive two tickets to the post-Festival dinner.

Entrance to the Festival & Other Donations – Entrance to the Woodstock Folk Festival is by donation. The suggested donations are:

  • $20/individual
  • $30/family

Since we want to make the 35th a special day, we would greatly appreciate donations at any time.  The Festival is an Illinois 501(c)(3) non-profit organization; all donations are tax-deductible to the extent federal and state law allow. You can send your donation to:
